Moving Truck Customers
Over the last 2 years, my husband and I have moved to three different states, not including the next move, and your trucks have been faithful on each trip. We got married on December 7, 2007 and decided to search for a place to settle down. We thought it wouldn’t take long, but we’re still looking and hoping with each move. This will be our fourth move using a Penske since our wedding. Like the travelling Nome, the Penske truck has found its way into many of our pictures of different states that we’ve crossed.
Our first move was from Albuquerque, NM to Austin, TX in March 2008. We dropped the truck off at Penske Austin after a short 12-hour journey. It would have been perfect, but we had a mechanical problem with the truck once we reached Texas. My husband called the Penske office and they kindly directed us to a local dealer who had the truck fixed and ready to go within a few hours. Penske even took care of the payment directly with the dealer, so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. We arrived in Austin happy with our rental.
A year later, on March 28, 2009, we rented another truck from Penske Austin and headed to Portland, OR. My husband drove the truck with his car on a trailer and I followed with kitty in the back (she loves boxes, by the way!). I think this was the most beautiful drive I’ve ever been on. We stopped in New Mexico to visit family, and then headed up through a dust storm in Colorado to Utah. It was dry and sunny and I was cruising with my windows down. Then, we started to go up in elevation pretty quickly. All of a sudden, the sun was hidden by clouds and a massive snow storm hit us - the temperature dropped dramatically. Slowly but surely, we made it to the peak. It was covered in snow, there were vehicles in ditches on the side of the road and my kitty was meowing the entire time. Talk about stress! But, the Penske made it through without a problem and just as quickly as we were up there, we came back down the mountain. Once again, it was sunny and dry. We arrived in Portland, Oregon on April 3 and returned our truck at the North Plains RV & Self Storage in North Plains, OR on April 6, 2009.
Unfortunately, we didn’t stay long and four months later, we headed back out on the road with another trusted Penske truck. This time, we rented from a location in Washington and drove down through Idaho, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. Since Penske gave us ten days of truck usage, we were able to stop for the weekend at my husband’s grandparent’s farm in South Dakota and join the family for their reunion (thanks Penske!). Back on the road, we headed through more states and ended up in Southeastern Pennsylvania on August 11. After staying at a hotel for about a week before finding a place to live, we returned the truck to Dick & Rip’s Auto Repair in Warminster, PA on August 18, 2009.
Once again, we’re on the move. Hopefully, this will be our last one and we’ll finally settle down. We’re leaving from Pennsylvania to Colorado on August 30, 2010. We’re renting a Penske from Rental World in Lansdale, PA on August 28, 2010 and dropping it off at the Rockrimmon Self Storage in Colorado Springs on September 5. We’re very excited to go to Colorado because we’ve always wanted to live there. Now that we’re professional movers (ha!), we know the ins and outs of getting there and we know that we won’t have to worry about our truck.
We tell people all the time about how great Penske is when they ask if we got a “U-Haul” for all our moves. We tell them how Penske gives a AAA discount and how their trucks are superior in quality to U-Haul any day. They are always clean and well maintained and we appreciate it immensely.
